Second year Student Pharmacist receives student travel award from FLASCO

Larkin University College of Pharmacy 2nd year Student Pharmacist, Andres A. Cancel, received a student travel award to attend the Florida Society of Clinical Oncology (FLASCO) conference on October 20-21, 2017 in Orlando, Florida. FLASCO awarded up to 8 Student Travel Awards to pharmacy students who attend FLASCO-recognized, training programs in the state of Florida to attend.  This was an opportunity to observe and connect with present leaders who have a major influence on the future of oncology education and training.  On Friday during the Dinner and Program Mr. Cancel, along with 7 other award recipients were recognized by Dr. Rick McDonough, the FLASCO President.  On Saturday, the students were able to sit in on scientific discussions on breast and colorectal cancers, which showcased new research, protocols, and recommendations for oncology practice. FLASCO is a member-supported state society that focuses on providing education, timely dissemination of pertinent information and general support to the Florida professionals who have chosen the medical discipline of oncology.
