Dr. Rudi H. Ettrich visited the Vienna Biocenter in Austria and the Biomedical Center of the Slovak Academy of Sciences in Bratislava, Slovakia

The Vienna BioCenter is a cluster of public and private not-for-profit life science research institutes, research departments of several universities and biotechnology companies located in the 3rd municipal District of Vienna, Austria. The Biomedical Center of the Slovak Academy of Sciences is the largest biomedical oriented research cluster in Slovakia. As Vienna and Bratislava are only about 50 miles from each other, both institutions join their forces in creating scientific capacities and developing research services, supported by the European Union funded cross-border collaboration CAPSID, coordinated by Dr. Peggy Stolt-Bergner, head of the protein technology core facility, and Dr. Ivana Nemcovicova, head of the Department of Viral Immunology.
Dr. Ettrich had been invited to introduce his current research on store-operated Calcium channels and how their mutations relate to cancer. He gave lectures in both places and discussed potential research collaborations between Larkin University and both European centers.
