Welcome to the College of Biomedical Sciences at Larkin University!
Thank you for considering Larkin University, College of Biomedical Sciences to pursue the next steps of your career. We look forward to becoming an integral part of your career development. We have designed our program to maximize student success and we strive to do our best each day. You will work with dedicated faculty who actively participate in teaching, advising and mentoring you toward your career goal. We have structured our curriculum to be active, integrated discussions and presentations focused on how basic science applies to various organ system diseases and treatment.
It is modeled after the first-year curriculum of a health professions school and is different from traditional graduate coursework. We complement our curriculum with areas such as exam preparation, clinical experiences and research designed for to stand out in the application process. We take pride in our small class size where students and faculty get to know and learn together. The diversity of Miami is reflected in our student body and we have found we are better people from learning about each other’s cultures. Designed to prepare students for a career in research and/or pursue a PhD in biomedical science fields. The curriculum includes advanced science coursework as well as comprehensive research methods, laboratory techniques and documentation of research findings. You will be actively involved in a research project, development of a research manuscript and submission of a research proposal.
Designed to prepare you for a career as a “drug addiction specialist”. Your curriculum includes advanced science coursework, clinical experiences in an addiction treatment center and specific addiction medicine curriculum content required to prepare you to take the licensing exam.
Designed for graduates of a medical school to enhance your application to a residency program. Your curriculum includes coursework in the application of basic science to clinical diagnosis and treatment as well as fundamentals of research. You will demonstrate clinical history & physician exam skills in both English and Spanish, participate in clinical rotations within a hospital setting and complete a research project. Students in this track are guaranteed a residency program
