Welcome from Dean Nemire!
It is a great time to be a pharmacist! The pharmacy profession is receiving recognition for our important and vital team member response during the COVID-19 pandemic. Pharmacists are practicing across a variety of disciplines including hospitals, community pharmacies, ambulatory clinics, industry, technology and software companies, academia, legal/regulatory divisions, and many more career fields.
As the most accessible healthcare provider, pharmacists are taking care of individuals with complex chronic diseases and a wide range of public health problems. Our pharmacy practice roles have expanded to provide medication therapy management, vaccine administrations, direct patient care through collaborative practice agreements, and interdisciplinary team roles for inpatient care management. We continue to have pivotal roles in providing education on prescription and non-prescription therapies like anticoagulation management, diabetes care, smoking cessation, vitamin/herbal supplements, and general nutrition goals.
Larkin University College of Pharmacy embraces a mission and vision dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based healthcare to our community in and around Miami-Dade, FL.
