LU-ALERT: : Hurricane Dorian Update 2, 9/2/2019, 12:45 a.m.

Larkin University continues to closely monitor Hurricane Dorian that is currently classified as a category 5 hurricane and Sunday afternoon made landfall in the Bahamas. Although most of the models predict a turn to the North during Monday, Dorian will come very close to the Floridian coast and the path can still change. For Monday and probably Tuesday morning the risk of life-threatening surge storm along portions of the Florida east cost including Broward County and Northern Miami-Dade county has increased. Although it is too soon to determine where the highest storm surge will occur, the university stays closed and classes are expected to resume earliest on Wednesday, Sept. 4.
So far administration, faculty and staff will need to report to work as scheduled on Tuesday, however please expect an update Monday afternoon as this might change based on the path Dorian takes during the day.

Any future decisions regarding campus operations or class schedules will be immediately communicated to the University community.

The University’s Emergency Email (Emergency@myularkin.org) is available to provide answers to specific questions to the University community or arrange help when needed.
