Making a Difference in Infectious Diseases (MAD-ID) 2019 Annual Conference

Drs. Paul Boylan and Melissa Santibañez represented Larkin University College of Pharmacy and attended the Making a Difference in Infectious Diseases (MAD-ID) 2019 Annual Conference in Orlando, FL on May 9, 2019. Both faculty presented posters on research they are conducting at their practice site, Larkin Community Hospital Palm Springs Campus. Dr. Boylan piloted a program wherein pharmacists identified patients receiving oseltamivir (Tamiflu) and recommended to optimize therapy based on therapeutic appropriateness and renal dose adjustments. Dr. Santibañez presented a research-in-progress poster describing the use of piperacillin-tazobactam (Zosyn) to treat extended-spectrum beta-lactamase infections compared to the standard of care, carbapenems.
