Larkin University Team Participates in ASA Public Health Big Data Challenge – 2.1 Million Americans have an opioid use disorder, and drug overdose deaths are now the leading cause of injury and death in the United States. In ThisIsStatistics’ second annual fall data challenge, our LU team, comprised of two high school students from Western High, Jakub (class of 2019) and Dominik (class of 2021) and their supervisor, Dr. Felix E. Rivera Mariani from our College of Biomedical Sciences are using statistics to dig into the data and come up with their own ideas to help end this important public health crisis and create healthier communities using the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)’s Multiple Cause of Death (Detailed Mortality) data set. Go Larkin!
